How does it work?
All you have to do is sign up and upload your photos. We handle the rest. Sign up using the Photographers sign-up link.
We handle all of the sales & postage. You pay nothing.
1. Take your photos. See the outline of requirements below.
2. If the subject shows an interest in making a purchase give them this website address & a search term for their photo. For example, you may want to add the date, place, and/or your name as a search word to the photo. Tell your subject this in advance and they will be able to use the search facility on this website to find their image.
3. Upload your photos. Please do not upload multiple copies that are similar. You choose the best one. Do not use this website for your storage. Only upload the images you believe are likely to sell.
4. We will approve/disapprove the images for inclusion onto the website. We are only likely to disapprove images if they are of too low quality (unless you specifically let us know that your client will be making a purchase), or if the subject matter is not acceptable for family viewing.
5. Your client will visit the website, find their photo and choose to purchase prints or products or both.
6. We process all orders, take care of the postage, and ensure that the customer receives their purchase. All prints & products are manufactured by third party professionals.
7. You receive your commission payout.
How much does it cost?
This is going to be one of the few times in your life when you discover that you are being offered something completely free! No catches! Signing up and uploading your photos is completely free.
If you want to promote yourself a little more professional, you may wish to purchase business cards with your name and this website address printed on them. For example, our cards read:
Eye For Detail Photography
www.EyeForDetailPhotography.co.uk
Your image will be online within 48 hours
This tells the person we hand our card to everything they need to know.
Do you pay me for my photos?
We pay you 50% commission of the profit of every print or product sold with your photo.
How do we work out the commission? ...
The profit will be calculated in the following way:
Price print/product sold for minus
Cost of merchant fees (PayPal, which enables us to take credit/debit cards) minus
Cost of print/product production minus
Cost of postage & packing equals
Profit. Your commission is 50% of this profit.
(Your account will show THE sale price, but only an APPROXIMATE profit. This is because your account software only shows a percentage of the sale price, which as explained above, is not how your commission is calculated).
When do I get paid?
Your profit from the sales of your photos is paid to you once a month. If you would like your commission payment made sooner please make a request by email. We shall make payments to your PayPal account.
Do I have to be a professional photographer?
Hey, do not sell yourself short! This is what you need to achieve ...
A photo that is good enough quality to print or apply to a product.
A photo that is nice enough that your client wants to buy it.
...simple as that!
Can I set up my own categories?
We can do this for you. Let us know by email what categories you want and we can set them up for you. If you would like to upload photos that are private, for example if your client does not want them made available to the public, let us know and we can set up password protected categories. Of course we do this for free!

How to resize your images
If you know how to reduce the file size of your images that is fine, please do so. Ensure files are a maximum size of 1.5 Mb.
If you would like to know how to reduce the file size of your images here are the instructions, including the link to a free program to automatically do it for you. Once the program is installed on your computer reducing the size of your images will be amazingly easy.
To download the image sizer program: 1. Follow this link http://www.mediafire.com/imagesizer
2. You will see 'PhotoResizer.zip' Click on it, and then
3. click on 'Click here to start download'.
4. A pop up box will appear with a choice of open with or save file (WinRAR.ZIP) Choose 'save file', then click 'OK'.
The file will download to your computer (you may find the file on your desktop, or in your downloads folder. (To specify your download directory search on Google specify download directory (followed by your internet browser name, for example, internet explorer, firefox etc).
5. Find the zip file on your computer.
6. Right Click and then click extract to PhotoResizer. The files will be extracted to a folder called PhotoResizer. You'll see the folder in the same place the zip file is.
7. Inside the folder you will find the magnifying glass icon. Right click this icon, choose 'send to' then choose 'desktop (as shortcut)'.
The program is now installed and ready to use.
To create a copy of your image to the new max 1.5 Mb size Do not double click or open the magnifying glass icon. This is not the correct method. The program works by simply dragging the images over the magnifying glass icon.
1. Open the folder that contains any images you wish to size. Highlight the images you wish to size and drag them over the magnifying glass shortcut icon that you will find on your desktop.
2. A black box will pop up. Nothing exciting happens whilst the images are being sized. The black processing box will close when it has finished. The box that pops up just shows a flashing cursor, this is normal, whilst the box is open your image is being sized.
All done!
3. You will find your resized images (a COPY) of the originals, in the same folder. They will be named the same with the suffix -k1500. 4. Your images are now the correct size and ready for upload onto our website.
The images will be sized to be below 1.5 Mb.
Any images that are smaller will NOT be enlarged. *Tip Try resizing only one image at a time so you can see how the program works, it takes a few seconds to resize an image and the black box doesn't appear to be doing anything, but it is!
Warning!
1. Do not double click or open the magnifying glass icon. This is not how the program works. 2. If you drag your images over the shortcut icon but the black box doesn't pop up it can be for one of the follwoing reasons: (a). Your image is smaller than 1.5 Mb and does not need sizing. (b).
You missed the magnifying glass icon! Look right next to the icon and
you'll find your photo! Put it back where it should be (cut, then
paste) and start again. Ensure the name of the shortcut icon is
highlighted before you drop the images onto it. (c).
Your images are in too many folders. This is a bug in the program. This
problem can be avoided by either not placing your photos in too many
folders, for example a directory C:\Documents and Settings\michelle\snaps would be fine but a directory C:\Documents and Settings\michelle\london festival\marching band\wind section\snaps would be too long. If you directory is too long you could drag the whole folder over the icon, this should then get around the problem and the program will resize all of the images in the whole folder. 3. Do not rename the PhotoSizer icon.
.................................................................... Only read the following if you want to make your own image sizer.
The program you will download is set up and ready to use. You do not need to make any changes, however, for your convenience, if you would like to make your own image sizer or adjust the settings then please see the website link below for instructions. If
the images are for upload onto our website please ensure they do not
exceed 1500 kb. This can be achieved by choosing 'Resizing Method'
'File Size (kilobytes)' and inserting the value '1500'. Failure to do
so can cause problems with uploading.
It is recommended that you choose 'compression quality Custom' and enter the value '100'.
Please see http://www.rw-designer.com/picture-resize
for further instructions. This is only if you want to make changes to
the program settings, or create your own program settings, you do not
have to do this. |
